Electrical Properties of ZnO Elements under Combined DC and 60 Hz AC Voltage

This paper presents the electrical characteristics of leakage currents flowing through zinc oxide (ZnO) elements under the combined DC and 60 Hz AC voltages. The leakage current, resistance, capacitance, and power loss showing the overall electrical behaviors of the commercial ZnO elements were measured as a function of the voltage ratio ?? At the constant peak value of the combined DC and AC voltage, the leakage current of ZnO elements was significantly increased as the voltage ratio increased. The crossover phenomenon in I-V characteristic curves was observed at the low current region. The capacitance of ZnO elements is independent of the peak value of applied voltage, but it does increase with the voltage ratio.
