초록

Oligodendroglioma is rare intracranial tumor and anaplastic Oligodendroglioma(AO) is especially rare and it's incidence is 9.4% of oligodendroglioma. The authors had experienced 6 cases of AO patients from 1992 and report of each cases with literature review. The age of patients was 17~66(mean 46.5)years with 2 men and 4 women. There location were frontal; 3 cases, temporal; 2 cases and parietal; 1 case. Pathologic diagnosis were changed in 2 cases from anaplastic astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma in first operation to AO, and the other cases were AO at first operation. Three cases of AO were growing beyound midline and 1 case was recurred on distant site(contralateral basal ganglia and brainstem) from initial location. AO recur was developed in 4 patients within 3~38months from first operation. All patients were received chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Outcome of AO were recur free; 2 cases, reoperation and recur free; 1 cases and dead; 3 patients. AO was poorly understood because of it's low incidence. Althought it's important prognostic factor was surgical resection, poor prognosis was generally accepted because of it's chemoresistences and tendency to recurrence. Inspite of it's poor prognosis, some patients were survive with recur free state. So the authors were suggested aggressive surgery and adjunctive therapies and rapid reoperation when AO was recurred.
