초록
This study conducts a comprehensive analysis of numeral types, structural patterns, syntactic class pairings of morphemes, and semantic relationships in a corpus of 196 associative four-character idioms containing numerals. The findings reveal two predominant structural patterns for numerals in these idioms: the 'N1XN3Y' pattern and the 'XN2YN4' pattern. Significantly, the 'N1XN3Y' pattern, where numerals occupy the first and third syllables, emerged as the most common, while the 'XN2YN4' pattern, placing numerals in the second and fourth syllables, was notably less frequent. Additionally, the ability of numerals to combine with other elements varied depending on numeral type, and this combinatory capacity did not correspond to productivity or frequency of use. Regarding syntactic class pairings, the elements represented by 'X' and 'Y' in these idioms were primarily content words. In idioms following the 'N1XN3Y' pattern, nouns appeared most frequently in the 'X' and 'Y' positions, with verbs and adjectives following in frequency. Conversely, for the 'XN2YN4' type, verbs were predominant in these positions, with adjectives and nouns as the second and third most frequent classes, respectively. From a semantic perspective, the elements 'X' and 'Y' displayed relationships of semantic similarity, opposition, and correlation.
