Hydroxyapatite Formation on alumina substrate coated with bioactive glass

초록

Two glasses were coated on a dense alumina disc in sequence, one for buffering the thermal expansion difference between glass and alumina and the other for hydroxyapatite formation. After heat-treatment of glass-coated alumina, bioactive layer was crystallized into various crystalline phases and hydroxyapatite formed well on the a-wollastonite containing bioactive layer in a simulated body fluid. The glass-coated alumina containing a-wollastonite was reacted in HCl solution to remove the a-wollastonite and soaked in a simulated body fluid. The hydroxyapatite forming rate was changed depending on an amount of a-wollastonite remaining on the surface.
