A Diachronic Research on Expression of Verbal Quantifier Phrases in Chinese
  • 성기은

초록

In this study, the following facts were found through a diachronic study of the ‘一番’ type. First, the function of expression of emotion in modern Chinese language verbal quantifiers existed from the time of verbal quantifiers in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern dynasties. Second, the [verb + ‘一番’ type] form is not established at one time, and each of them is different, ‘番․通․頓․場. The first is ‘一場’ (唐五代), the next is ‘一番’ and ‘一頓’ (宋代), and the last is ‘一通’ (明代). Third, the information provided by emotional tone is objective, but when the judgment of the user who operates it is intervened, it expresses sensibility through the type of ‘一番’. Fourth, subjectivity arises due to the selective use of ‘一番’, which has the function of expressing emotion, and there is a difference in the strength of subjectivity depending on the syntactic form. Fifth, the function of expressing emotions and feelings existed at the same time as the occurrence of '番', but the expressions of emotion and subjectivity were changed and developed in the process of use. Finally, this study reveals that the size of the corpus has a very large effect.
