CO2 adsorption with PVP added silica-based aerogel as support

Global warming and climate change are critical issues that have garnered a lot of attention in recent years due to their potentially catastrophic impacts on the environment and human society. ? One of the primary drivers of global warming is the increasing concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere, which is mainly caused by human activities such as burning fossil fuels. ? aerogels have specific surface area micropores and mesopores, so it is good to be used as a support for CO2 capture. ? We added a polymer to silica-based aerogels to make aerogels that does not damage the support even when physically impregnated, and as a result of analyzing the CO2 adsorption, we studied aerogels that is easily adsorbed from 0 to 70 degrees and can be recycled. ? At 100wt% of PEI impregnation relative to the aerogel weight, the adsorption amount was 5.13mmol/g at 1 bar and low temperature, and the adsorption rate tended to decrease as the temperature increased. The a dsorption amount tended to decrease as the temperature decreased with the high adsorption amount. It w as also confirmed that the PVMDMS-PVP aerogels impregnated with PEI had a high adsorption amount ev en at 400 ppm and flue gas. In addition, it was confirmed that recyclability is possible through repeated ads orption, and we plan to analyze whether selective adsorption is possible in the future.
