Verifying the Reliability and Validity of the Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric(LCJR) Measurement in Simulation Nursing Education on Caring for Older Adults with Cognitive Impairment

This study aimed to verify the Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric (LCJR) and confirm its applicability as a reliable and valid tool to evaluate clinical judgment and nursing performance in simulation education on caring for older adults with cognitive impairment. After analyzing the nursing performance data in simulation education based on scenarios with older adults with cognitive impairment for fourth-year nursing students at a university in S city. we evaluated reliability and validity using SPSS 22 for a retrospective study. The internal consistency of all questions was .764, with a variance of 62.7%. Eleven questions and three factors were extracted through factor analysis. In 2025, Korea is expected to become a super-aged society wherein those aged 65 years or older account for 20% of the total population. The results of this study can be used in nursing education and practice to improve specialized nursing competence by evaluating clinical judgment and nursing performance in the area of cognitive impairment in older adults.
