Subsymmetry and the Work of Rudolph Michael Schindler

This paper presents subsymmetry principles founded on the algebraic structure of symmetry groups of a regular polygon. With the method, a series of Rudolph M. Schindler’s designs are analyzed to demonstrate how these principles are strategically employed in the design process, thus exposing its hierarchical order of subsymmetry principles in each design.
