In this paper, we report a mumerical study of the opical and electrical charcteristics of the super in-p;ane switching mode and modified super in-plane swiching mode fo comparicon In the S-IPS mode. directors on the edge of an delctrode are deformed due to the electric field that induces an disclimation area. The modified S-IPS mode demonstrates a better transmittance and wider viewing angle than those of the S-IPs cell and an angle of its electrodes has an effect of thransmission, viewing anlel, and contrast.
