Structural Optimization of Electrodes for PVA LCD Cell with 3D-FEM Numerical Solver

In this paper, we simulated simple PVA mode to understand the effect of interval between electrodes. We changed the interval of the common electrode from 4um to 14um. Director distribution and transmittance is discussed to analyze the effect of interval. We founded that remarkable dynamical behavior is induced by a little difference of the interval between electrodes for the case of PVA. In case of tiny interval, the directors under the interval are unstable. However, in case of widen interval, the directors are almost not rotated because of weak electric fields and adjacent directors.
