One-step synthesis of In-doped reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites at room temperature of formaldehyde?sensor

Since conventional sensors that use?metal oxide such as zinc oxide, titanium oxide and indium oxide generally?operate at high temperatures although their?high?responsibility and better selectivity,?we have?needed sensors that can operate at room temperature in oder to?apply for?everyday use. In this study, the active material of this new?nanocomposites in the sensing process is?reduced graphene oxide?and the sensing mechanism of?this new?material?corresponds to that of a typical p-type semiconductor. The prepared bare graphene oxide and?well doped structure of the indium oxide on?reduced?graphene oxide?were characterized by?X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope?and confirmed. When this new nanocomposites were analyzed by our gas sensing instrument,?this new material?was approximately 7 times more sensitive and?higher? selectivity?than?bare graphene oxide toward formaldehyde gas.
