A ship contains numerous pipes that account for a significant proportion of the design and cost. Therefore, pipe routing algorithms are being developed to optimise these by setting various constraints and objective functions. Existing studies have conducted routing to reduce the length and number of bends in pipes to improve economic feasibility. However, to use piping automation, the separation distance between the equipment and pipes, as well as between each pipes, must be considered in accordance with the rules and regulations to prevent crushing because of temperature change, pressure, or vibration of the pipes. Therefore, in this study, a bounding-box method is proposed to satisfy these rules and regulations; routing is possible while satisfying the defined minimum spacing. In addition, by modifying and adding rules and regulations, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm was verified by analysing whether it could be reflected in pipe routing.
