Case Simulation in Nursing Management Practicum for Performance Centered Curriculum
초록
Purpose The purpose of this case report is to introduce how to use case simulation in nursing management practicum for performance centered curriculum. Specially in this report, we introduce a transfer ward management case. Methods The subject of this case report was 4th grade nursing department students. They made a team for practicing case simulation. Each team consisted of two or three students. Case simulation framework was developed by authors based on team based learning theory. It has three parts: First session is summarizing real clinical observation situation using story telling method. The focus of summarizing real clinical observation situation is relations with nursing management issues. Second, through team discussion, they extracted observed nursing management issues from summary of clinical observation situation using nursing management process. Third, based on second stage discussion and extracted nursing management issues, they discussed once again deeply to get and find unobserved and hidden another nursing management issues to get integrated insights to handle the clinical observation situation using the perspectives of nursing management theorems. Results In case of a transfer ward of ICU patient, the students discussed each other on the real clinical observation situation. Then, they extracted four nursing management issues from summary of clinical observation situation: Time management, communication, quality control, and transfer ward patient management. After that, they discussed once again deeply on this case to find unobserved and hidden another nursing management issues. Finally they found nursing delivery system issue from this case as a hidden nursing management issue. Conclusion Using this case simulation framework in nursing management practicum, students got more concrete nursing management concepts and understood how to apply nursing management theorems to real clinical nursing situations.
