초록

In this study, new type of aluminum based metal substrate was fabricated by applying anodizing (electrochemical oxidation) method. The anodized aluminum oxide showed a periodic array of nanosized pores aligned in one direction within the rigid alumina, acting as an insulating layer on aluminum plate. The thermal properties of the anodized aluminum metal substrate (AMS) were compared to those of the conventional aluminum based Metal Core Printed Circuit Boards (MCPCBs) containing a polymer-based insulating layer. It was revealed that thermal conductivity of AMS is higher more than two times compared to that of MCPCBs. Moreover, thermal resistivity and IR emission characteristics of AMS were superior to those of MCPCBs. It was also revealed that LED package based on AMS shows better thermal performances than MCPCBs.
