초록
This study aims to increase the understanding of dementia in the elderly by identifying the levels of knowledge and the attitudes towards dementia and the relationships among these variables. The study results were as follows: 1. age of subjects reanged from 66 to 92 and the mean age of the subjects were 77.41 years. For gender, there was a majority of 62.1% females and also 75.9% of the subjects had religion. 2. In reference to the dementia related questions, 75.9% of subjects answered that they have heard about the dementia related information. Mass media was most way of getting the information. 3. The mean score of dementia related knowledge in this sample was 10.52 on a scale with minimum and maximum possible scores of 0.00 and 20.00 respectively. 4. The results of total dementia related attitude levels gave a maximum score of 50 with mean score 31.96. 5. As for the relationship between knowledge and attitude, there was a significant correlation between the level of dementia related knowledge and attitude. In conclusions, it is necessary to provide the right information about dementia to let people can have postitive emotional attitude for dementia
