Procedural Model for Sloshing Load Assessment of LNG Cargo Containment System

초록

In recently years, with increasing demand for LNG worldwide, so that LNG carrier is being larger. So, the demands of the qualification and evaluation of sloshing pressure in the cargo containment system of larger LNG carrier is increase. Under these circumstances, each classifications and companies that hold core technology for design the LNG cargo containment system presented the design criteria for sloshing load assessment. However, environmental characteristic of the low temperature, the characteristics of pressure occurs instantaneously, and the non-linearity of the fluid make the problem complex. In this paper, the procedure of the sloshing pressure assessment and design that was researched and developed by class, shipyard, and research institute will be compared and analyzed. And based on this estimated procedure, new procedure for sloshing load assessment and strength evaluation for LNG cargo containment system will be proposed. And for validate new procedure, the examples of sloshing model test, numerical analysis for sloshing pressure, and procedure of strength evaluation will be presented.
