Low Temperature Impact Resistance Evaluation of Offshore Structure Using High Performance Steel

초록

As the global warming strongly influences on the gradual ice melting accelerated, demands for developing arctic area has been being increased from various maritime business viewpoint. One is for building arctic ships that can sail across the arctic area taking advantage of the shorter sailing distance. The other one is for construction of arctic offshore plant producing oil and gas that are buried in the arctic area. Since both of those are operated in highly ranked risk area the structural reliability needs to be secured. Among the risks, ice collision at low temperature is a crucial issue to be seriously considered, thus, impact resistance of the steel structure needs to be evaluated experimentally and the results should be applied to the design stage of the structure. Both experimental and analytical ways to evaluate and investigate the impact resistance of offshore structure using high performance steels for low temperature are performed. It is suggested that the experimental evaluation data give a more accurate prediction of the actual situation.
