초록
The purpose of this study is to investigate the thermodynamic and hydrodynamic characteristics of plate heat exchangers. Numerical work was conducted using the FLUENT code for RNG k-e model. Also the dependence of heat transfer and friction factor on geometrical parameters was investigated. As the Reynolds number increases, it is found that heat transfer coefficient also increases, but friction factor decreases. Larger corrugation angle gives higher values of heat transfer coefficients and friction factors. Through the analysis, it is found that optimum corrugation angle peak heat exchanger performance exists. It is observed that heat transfer coefficient becomes maximum while friction factor is relatively low for this corrugation angle. It is interesting to note that the flow repulsions at the contact point of the two fluid streams become more active with larger corrugation angles.
