An Evaluation of Supply Adequacy for Air Cargo Route Based on the Demand Characteristics of Nodes

The following study aims to develop a model for assessing supply adequacy for the air cargo route based on the demand characteristics of nodes. The paper approaches the air cargo route as a link connecting two nodes(airports) based on the network theory. The approach to this study involves the following three stages. First, we set the design concept of an experimental model by reviewing various related theories and literature. Secondly, we selected key attributes that most influence the air cargo demand of the node and link. Third, we applied the results to the model to assess the suitability of the selected air cargo route and conduct an analysis comparing the findings with the actual operating results of the route. Study results showed that the demand characteristics and supply adequacy evaluated based on the assessment model are solid representations of the conditions of the actual operating routes, thus confirming the validity of the model as a practical tool for airlines.
