Structural Damage Detection Based on Wave Mode Decomposition Method

A Lamb wave mode decomposition method is used to detect the damage in a plate-like thin structure. The method is based on two principle rules: the group velocity ratio rule and the mode amplitude ratio rule. Experiments are conducted for a metallic plate specimen to validate the proposed idea.
