Microstructure Characterization of Iron Oxide Fabricated by Pulsed Wire Evaporation
초록
The range of shapes and sizes displayed by iron oxides reflects, to a large extent, the growth environment. Magnetic nanoparticles exhibit many interesting properties that can be exploited in a variety of applications such as catalysis and in biomedicine. This study describes how to control the iron oxide such as maghemite, magnetite and wustite depending on process variables. We analyzed the microstructure, phase and saturation magnetic flux density of iron oxide and iron nano size powders which are manufactured by using the pulsed wire evaporation(PWE) method. In the case of iron oxide powders, we noticed that it is different to size and phase depending on the applied voltage (2.6 kV to 6.3 kV). Microstructural evaluation was studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The morphologies of nano powders have been studied by a scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The magnetization loop of the powders was performed using a Magnetic Property Measurement System(MPMS) at room temperature(300K).
