A Study on Space Plan of Urban Traffic Infra through an Interpretation of Fragmented Urban Memories through Literary Allegory

초록

A radical modernization and urban development has created urban sprawl as well as indiscreet traffic infra, which separate history, culture and nature from daily life to make modern urban space standardized and unpleasant. Interconnecting the fragmented urban tissues linearly, however, urban traffic infra possesses a great potential to interpret and change the surrounding context multi-laterally. A subway station, as a punctiform element that integrates traffic infra with urban space, can be used as a process-stage not only that interconnects the fragmented urban memories through weaving and compositing the diverse urban movements but also that reproduces (re-codifies) the city space. The study intends to reconsider the subway stations in socio-cultural point of view and to investigate the way how to interpret the station space through literary allegory, how to re-codify urban memories to be converted into a solid environment, and how to turn the station to be a sensitive urban program generating experiential space. Keywords: Fragment, Void, Benjamin, Allegory, Re-code, Infrastructure, Subway station
