The RTP Protection in Internet VOD Service using MSCR

VOD service cannot secure the data transmission with the user authorization on the Internet due to the characteristics of Internet technology, because unauthorized users can access to data transferring on the Internet. And also ciphering the multimedia data for protecting the service has an effect on the realtime data. In this paper, MSCR(Modified Stream Cipher for RTP) is proposed in order to protect data transmitting on the Internet and it will minimize the effect of the realtime characteristics in VOD service. For ciphering the multimedia data, MSCR makes the key stream which is used to cipher to get from the authorized server to authorized users. And then it makes a simple operation and carries out the cyphering/uncyphering of data. Experiments take a measurement of the time of cyphering/uncyphering and verify the minimum effects on the realtime.
