초록

For the purpose of designing and applying appropriate surge protection, one of the essential points is to consider the coordination between cascaded surge protective devices(SPDs) and it is important to find a solution to cascade coordination of SPDs. In case of two voltage limiting SPDs connected in parallel, the amount of divided impulse current and energy that flow through each SPD is examined as a function of the protective distance. As a result, it was found that the evaluation of energetic coordination between cascaded SPDs depending on the protection voltage level of SPDs and the protective distance is a key step in the effective surge protection.
