Temperature and Humidity Effects on Electro-Active Paper Actuators

초록

Electro-Active Paper (EAPap) is attractive for EAP actuator due to its merits in terms of lightweight, dry condition, large displacement output, low actuation voltage and low power consumption. A promising EAPap actuator has been developed using cellulose paper. It is necessary to investigate the environmental factors for many applications. The performance variation along with the temperature and humidity is investigated. Tip displacement is measured by laser sensor and the power consumption of EAPap is investigated. When 0.3㎸/㎜ of excitation voltage is applied, more than 4㎜ of tip displacement is obtained out of 40㎜ long EAPap sample. Since the power requirement of EAPap is so small(8.8㎽/㎠), it can be activated by remote microwave power, which is promising for many applications.
