Large scale Web GIS Cluster Server for High Availability and High Performance

A Web based GIS Cluster system is a cost-effective platform for large-scale GIS Internet services. A cluster of GIS servers, arranged to act as a single unit, provides incremental scalability that maximizes the percentage of clients request that succeed despite the failure of one of more servers in the cluster. This paper give an overview of Web based GIS Cluster system, system architecture and design issues. Also we propose a new Spatial Locality Aware Request Distribution strategy SLARD.
