An optimal design study on pitched beams

In this paper, pitched beams which can be used in ship and land-based structures and increase economical efficiency are introduced and their behavior under a point load and distributed load is examined. To perform this study, direct stiffness method is used as analysis tool. The geometry of pitched beam is symmetric. It has two cases of boundary conditions which are ‘pinned’ and ‘fixed', to be applied in this research. The examination is carried out on the behavior of a pitched beam with different pitch angles. Also optimal pitch angle are found for each cases.
