Meta-analysis of the Effects of Exercise Intervention for ADHD Children

초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to meta-analyze the effect of exercise intervention for ADHD children. Method: Meta-analysis was conducted on 21 papers selected through the literature review process. Analysis was performed using the CMA 3.0 program. Heterogeneity tests were performed using the Q test and I2 statistic. Subgroup analysis and meta-regression analysis were also performed. Results: First, the overall effect size of the exercise intervention paper for children with ADHD was found to be the medium effect size (ES=.706). Second, exercise intervention had a medium effect size on major symptoms of ADHD (hyperactivity & problem behavior, attention, suppression of response, and performance function). Third, it was found that outdoor exercise had a higher effect on symptoms than indoor exercise. Fourth, a large effect size was found in the frequency of exercise participation per week (2 times, 5 times) and exercise participation time per session (40-50 minutes). Conclusion: The results of this study are significant in providing an academic basis for the positive effects of continuous exercise participation in ADHD children.
