The paper and pulp industry is foundation of global economy. It is essential for producing a diverse array of products which includes printing, packaging, and hygiene materials. These industries fundamentally alter wood into pulp, thereafter producing paper and paperboard products through the processes of mechanical and chemical pulping, bleaching, and paper manufacturing. Pulp and paper industry faces critical challenge which is the management of wastewater practices. This chapter highlights tactical emphasis on decreasing freshwater usage through recycling and reuse of treated wastewater. This chapter also investigates perspective of transforming this waste into high-valued biomaterials using integrated and conventional biorefinery technologies. © 2025 The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
