초록

A polarization splitter based on the birefringence of polymer is designed. The component contains a polarization splitting section consisting of a MMI coupler. The widths of the access waveguide and MMI coupler are 3um and 16.7um, respectively. By using the MPA, the characteristics of the polarization splitter were analyzed. Results of numerical calculation predicted that excess losses are 1.59dB for both polarizations with a device length of 10.6mm. Extinction ratios are 20.5dB and 15.9dB for TE and TM modes, respectively. Extinction ratios can be improved by reducing the access waveguide width, but excess losses are increased.
