OCB-LCDs with Wide Viewing Angle Compensated by Positive Uniaxial Film and Discotic Compensator

초록

In this study, we presented a method to obtain wide viewing angle in OCB-LCDs by using positive uniaxial retardation film and discotic compensator. The light leakage of normal incidence at dark state could be suppressed by arranging the long axis of positive uniaxial retardatin film perpendicular to the rubbing direction of liquid crystals. Futhermore, by determining the ∇nd value of the discotic compensator to minimized the light leakages of oblique incidence, the viewing angle of OCB-LCDs have been widened remarkably compared to that of conventional OCB-LCDs with a single uniaxial film.
