Microporous covalent triazine polymer network (MCTP) with BET surface area of ca. 1452 m2 g-1 was synthesized via a single step anhydrous AlCl3 catalyzed Friedel-Crafts reaction of cyanuric chloride with 1,3,5-triphenylbenzene (MCTP-1). The synthesized MCTP-1 material was studied for adsorption properties of CO2 and CH4 up to 1 bar at 273, 293, 298 and 303 K. The network exhibited high CO2 adsorption capacity (204.3 mg g-1 at 273K/1bar) with the heat of adsorption (Qst) of 40.0-32.0 kJ mol-1, as well as moderate selectivity of CO2/N2 (15.4) and CO2/CH4 (8.2). We also measured high pressure adsorption of CO2 and CH4 at 300 K/35 bar, which exhibited substantial CO2 (497.4 mg g-1) and CH4 (85.4 mg g-1) storage.
