This paper reports polydimethylsiloxane/three-dimensional graphene foam composite (PDMS@3DG) prepared by the vacuum infiltration method, and applied for triboelectric nanogenerator (TENGs). Its characteristics, including hydrophobicity, surface roughness, and surface charge density, are thoroughly investigated, along with the chemical properties of the composite layer. It is applied to a triboelectric layer in a vertical contact mode TENG. At optimized working conditions of 5 Hz and 15 N, the TENG exhibits the electrical outputs of Vp-p = 3.72 V and Ip-p= 3.78 mu A, which are much higher than those of pristine PDMS-based TENG (Vp-p = 0.13 V, Ip-p = 0.06 mu A). The maximum output power of 7 W m-2 is achieved at an optimum load resistance. Besides, the TENG exhibits its stable performance after 10 000 working cycles. The experimental output voltage measurement of the TENG was proved by the COMSOL Multiphysics software. The PDMS@3DG TENG is applied for powering LEDs and electrophoretic deposition of TiO2 nanoparticles on a stainless-steel substrate.
