In the approvable frequency band of Ultra Wideband (UWB) the IEEE-802.11a WLAN is a concernful interference source. In this paper we focus on a method of selecting the optimal modulation parameters which can be used in the UWB TH PPM systems to resist the interference from close-by devices using the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) standard IEEE-802.11a. By changing the modulation parameters of the TH PPM system according to our method, we can get our proposed system in which a) optimal BER performance with the interference from the devices of IEEE-802.11a WLAN is achieved; b) a TH PPM scheme with the optimal time shift value is achieved; c) FCC preliminary UWB emission limit can be satisfied, simultaneously.
