OBJECTIVES Numberous biological and symthetic materials have been used for collumellar strut to achieve stronger nasal tip projections in Koreans noses. But it has been difficult to achieve effective nasal tip projection and had many complications, Therefore, the authors will introduce the results of 19 cases that used Medpor for collumellar strut material without having any complications. Materials and Methods 10 patients were selected that underwent collumellar strut using Medpor at Inha University Hospital from August, 2003 to October, 2004. Retrospective analysis was done by chart reviews. Properative and postoperative photographs were compared to evaluate the degree of nasal tip projection and to identify any compications. Results By comparing the photographs, we came to know more stronger nasal tip projections were achieved in all 19 cases. And during the follow-up period, any complications of infection, implant prolapse were not observed. The minimum follow-up period was 12 months. Conslusions Koreans have thick skin, abundant subcutaneous tissues, thin and underdeveloped medial crus of low lateral cartilage. To achieve stronger tip projection in nasal tip surgery, Medpor can be one of useful material to use without any complications.
