Preparation and properties of gel films with gradient structure by plasma polymerization

Polymers gels have attracted considerable attention in view of a wide variety of applications “stimuli-responsive” materials since they are able to change their size and shape in response to outside environmental changes. Living things have gradient structures and can response rapidly to external stimulus. We attempted to mimic the structure of living things which response to external stimulus rapidly. But it has known that preparing gel films with gradient structure is very difficult by conventional method. In this study, the plasma polymerization was applied to prepare the gel films which have gradient structure at the density of crosslink and 10-undecenoic acid monomer with carboxyl group was used.
