A high efficiency coupling measurement for photonic crystal waveguides according to the width of silicon waveguides

초록

A high efficieny coupling between photonic crystal waveguides and silicon waveguides is very difficult problem because of the mode mismatching. There are some methods to gain a high coupling efficieny. In this paper, we evaluated the transmittance corresponding to the coupling efficieny between two waveguides. Two dimensional finite-difference time-domain calculations show the optimized silicon waveguides width. By setting the width of the waveguide to be an appropriate value, we obtained single mode guiding and a coupling efficiency about 100% for the wavelength in 1.55um
