Characteristic Moment-Rotation Relationship Curve of a Double-Angle Connection, Including the Effects of the Prying Action and Bolt Pretension
초록
Double-angle connections are a type of partially restrained connection that show different behavioral characteristics according to their thickness and to the number, diameter, and gauge distance of the high-strength bolt. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the bolt pretension and prying action of the high-strength bolt on the initial rotational stiffness and plastic moment capacity of such double-angle connections, by opting for double-angle connections that have double-angle flanges in the flexural-yielding failure mode. Towards this end, three-dimensional nonlinear finite-element analysis was conducted, and based on the results of such analysis, the improved models for both prying action and bolt pretension were proposed.
