Characteristic Moment-Rotation Relationship of an Unstiffened Top and Seat Angle Connection, Including the Effects of the Prying Action and Bolt Pretension
초록
The top and seat angle connection, a type of partially restrained connection, shows different behavioral characteristics according to the changes in the thickness of the connection, the high-strength bolt gauge distance, and the diameter and number of high-strength bolts. This study was conducted to determine the effects of the bolt pretension and prying action of the high-strength bolt on the initial rotational stiffness and plastic moment capacity of the connection, by selecting a top and seat angle connection that displays flexural-yielding failure mode characteristics. Towards this end, three-dimensional nonlinear finite-element analysis was carried out, and based on the analysis results, the improved models for both prying action and bolt pretension were proposed.
