초록
In this paper, a quadrilateral mesh generation algorithm is presented and has been applied to a rigid-plastic finite element program. The algorithm was developed especially to treat effectively large deformation problem such as in the finite element analyses of metal forming engineering. In the analysis of metal forming process, mesh regularity and mesh density along the die-workpiece interface should be well controlled in order to enhance the solution accuracy and to reduce the number of remeshing operation during the simulation process. To satisfy these specific requirements, the NURBS interpolation modeling, a mesh density control technique and modified paving algorithm are proposed. The proposed algorithm has been programmed and tested several times to see the applicability to the analysis of metal forming processes. Lo’s distortion coefficient is introduced to evaluate mesh quality generated from the proposed algorithm.
