One hundred fifteen nurses answered the questionnaires which included general characteristics, Assault Response Questionnaire (Lanza, 1988), Hardiness Scale(Hystad, Eid, Johnsen, Laberg, & Bartone, 2010) and Job Satisfaction Questionnaire(Youn, 2004). Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlations. Results : There was a significant difference in gender (t=2.886, p=.005), type of religion (F=3.525, p=.010) to job satisfaction in emergency department nurses. There was a statistically significant positive correlation between hardiness and job satisfaction (r=.440, p=.000). There were statistically negative correlation between response for violence experience and job satisfaction (r=-.331, p=.000) and hardiness and response for violence experience (r=-.411, p=.000). Conclusion : As above results, it was revealed that violence experiences were important factor that contribute towards lower job satisfaction in emergency department nurses. However it was also noted that hardiness was important factor that could be used to improve job satisfaction of emergency department nurses.
