Simulation of frequency dependent impedance of ground rods in multi-layered soil

The distributed parameter model is used to simulate the frequency dependent impedance of ground electrode systems. This paper proposes the use of simulation methods which apply the distributed parameter model for frequency dependent impedance of ground electrodes, by considering a multi-layered soil structure where the ground rods are buried. Matlab is used to calculate the frequency dependent ground impedance for two kinds of ground rods with different lengths. The simulation results obtained by using the new proposed method are compared with actual measured results as well as those obtained via simulations using the existing distributed parameter soil model.
