Design of Hydrogen Thruster Applying Catalytic Ignition System

초록

In this work, we designed a hydrogen thruster system with platinum catalyst ignition system. It uses the exothermic reaction of platinum catalysts to form a pilot flame. Analysis of the optimal catalytic conditions, which are fast and responsive, was required. Calcination temperature and reaction surface area of the catalyst were selected for variable conditions. Pilot flame formation was confirmed using catalytic ignition system, and a thruster was designed to be fitted with the ignition system. The normal operation of the hydrogen thrusters was verified using spark-type igniter, and subsequent studies plan to study the properties of the thrusters after the catalytic ignition system is installed.
