Developing Metadata for Imagery and Gridded Data

초록

In this study, a metadata standard for domestic use has been developed. Based on the draft for the Part 2 of ISO 19115, more domestically efficient metadata standards have been drafted. To generate more comprehensive metadata standard, in-depth analysis has been made. The satellite data have been categorized into three parts: raw image without any data processing, basic products from processing raw images such as DEM, GCP, orthophoto, and thematic maps classified from raw images such as vegetation map, landuse, forest map, and catchment basin map. Based on the requirement analysis of the users, major items of the metadata have been drafted and compared with ISO's draft version. Considering that the ISO version has numerous elements which are not mandatory for domestic users, many of the elements have been removed. Therefore, only mandatory and conditional elements with minimum requirement of optional elements have been identified.
