Photodissociation Dynamics of Iodoacetonitrile

The I atom from the photodissociation of iodoacetonitrile has been detedted by using the two-photon vacuum ultraviolet(VUV) fluorescence techniaue. The absorption spevtrum of the title molecule in the supersonic jet has been takef by scanning the pump laser frequency with monitoring the VUV fluorescence signal from the I frangment. The I/I* branching ratio is measures as a function of the pump energy, and energetics involved in the photodissociation has been invoked grom the translational energy measurement of the I gragment.
