초록

Poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) is a promising material for engineering plastic and textile fiber, and in particular it combines many advantages of nylons and other polyesters. PTT possesses good mechanical properties and exhibits better elastic recovery than PET and PBT. However, lower glass transition temperature (Tg=44℃) of PTT is a disadvantage in some applications. On the contrary, poly(ether imide) (PEI) is a high-performance engineering plastic with a Tg of about 215℃. Besides, PEI possesses several advantageous properties such as excellent toughness and good electrical insulation. But due to its amorphous nature, PEI is poor for chemical resistance. Therefore, it is expected that blending of PTT and PEI will offer an interesting routs to combine the complementary properties of both polymers. Miscibility, melting, and crystallization behaviors of melt-blended PTT/PEI blends have been investigated using DSC, DMTA, OM, SALS, SAXS. These blends show a single and composition-dependent glass transition temperature over the entire composition range, implying that these blends are fully miscible in the amorphous region. To investigate the crystallization behavior, a three kind of temperature (160℃, 180℃ and 200℃), depending on Tg with composition, is chosen. The rejected distance, which was represented in terms of the parameter δ, played an important role on determining the morphological patterns in this blends. These unique morphologies are observed by OM and SALS.
