Enhanced performance of quantum dot light-emitting diodes through versatile applications of metal oxide nanoparticles

Metal oxide nanoparticles play a crucial role in enhancing the performance of quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs). This study highlights their applications in charge transport layers (CTLs), emissive layers, and as capping-scattering layers. Incorporating metal oxides into the CTLs or emissive layers enables precise control over charge injection and transport properties, resulting in increased luminance and improved device stability. Furthermore, the use of metal oxides as capping layers not only facilitates light extraction but also enhances light scattering, enabling an angle-independent emission profile in top-emitting QLEDs. These findings demonstrate the ability of metal oxide nanoparticles to optimize QLED performance, underscoring their potential in advancing next-generation wide color gamut displays. © 2025 SPIE.
