Study on the development of oyster rack culture system

A study was conducted in two intertidal areas(Seochon and Hongseong) in the Iron racks with a dimension of 10027060 were set on the tidal flat and culture bags(100601.2) were set on the rack with oysters inside of the bag. Growth rate, survival rates and profit from rack culture system were compared with those from raft culture system in the south sea. Growth rates were faster in raft culture system, but survival rates were not different significantly. For economic aspect, rack system required 20% more in installation cost than raft system, but 12% less in labor cost. Raft system produced 18% more than rack system but oyster quality from rack system was much better than that of raft system. Accordingly, rack system produced approximately 30% more than raft system in term of profit.
