Conventional silica aerogel has very weak mechanical strength. ? A great deal of approach have been conducted for improvement of mechanical strength. ? However, silica-based aerogel is still weak mechanical strength. ? To improve mechanical strength of silica-based aerogel, in this work, π?π stacking interactions which are never used before. ? To deploy π?π stacking interactions, styrene was used in synthesis of aerogel (synthesis process is shown in scheme 1.).
