A Distribution Channel Choice Model

The choice of distribution channel plays a crucial role in the modern supply chain management. The reason is that it is closely linked with managerial efficiency and customer satisfaction of companies. To develop more efficient management schemes and provide better service for their customers, it is very important for logistics managers to understand what types of distribution channel exist in their supply chain system, what factors determine the type of distribution channel, and how they interact with each other. In this research, we present a distribution channel choice model that can be used for identify the principle of the choice of distribution channel. The model was developed in the form of Multinomial Logit Model based on a nationwide survey data for 756 shippers dealing with food and beverage, construction materials and electronic devices.
